The good news is that there are a few things you can do to get that art gallery feel at home that don’t entail buying hundreds of pieces of artwork. Here are a few tips to help:
- Custom Framework – It is likely that much of the art you now have could be improved with custom framing to give it that museum-quality appearance that actually gives power to the artwork. The wrong frame can actually detract from a piece’s beauty and block the character it was meant to present.
- Gallery Lighting – Also known as museum lighting, it is a method of providing illumination to your artwork that highlights the important features in it and provides a clear view by eliminating shadows and reflections. Ideally, this lighting would encompass color, distribution, intensity, movement and angle qualities of light, but without a gallery lighting professional, which may be cost-prohibitive, you can create a dramatic result with a few well-placed artwork lights. Be sure to go with LED lights because they emit less UV light, which can damage artwork.
- Additional Artwork – You don’t have to buy dozens of pieces to give a more art gallery feel to your home. A few special pieces located for maximum effect can do wonders.
